Based on data released by Israel, at least 98 Palestinians have lost their lives while detained since October 2023. A human rights group located in Israel has reported that the real toll is likely substantially greater, as a result of hundreds of missing people in Gaza.

For 21 instances, primarily individuals from Gaza, researchers were not able to correlate the limited information supplied by government bodies to a death recorded by advocacy bodies, either through accounts from former inmates or reporting in the press.
