The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Response Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms. It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Modifications Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
